How To Beat Imposter Syndrome

There's Ghost Mode, where you disappear while you conquer your goals, coming back as the version of yourself you want the world to see.
And then there's Visibility Mode. I made this one up but it suits my vision for this year (omg I know, so punny!)
I've always stayed more behind the scenes of my own life and business, playing it safe and making sure nobody saw the messy parts of what was going on. I wanted to be perfect at all times. Which has led me to becoming the self-proclaimed best kept secret of the Tri-State area.
Examples of what I'm talking about:
I've always dreamed of being an author, so I've been writing this blog for about a decade. Which basically nobody knows about because I never talk about it and barely share it. (People will think I'm lame for dreaming this big, and what could I possibly say that anyone would want to read?)
I've always loved sharing my knowledge with other stylists but stop myself from putting it out in the world. I film all the time at work, but the videos sit in my folders instead of going to YouTube or my education email list that has two subscribers. (Fear of Failure, and also people will think I'm ridiculous for thinking I could have anything of value to share.)
I traveled to California in 2018 to bring the most highly rated (at the time) luxury hair extensions to my hometown, and have continually grown my expertise on the subject. Yet I still have people telling me they've never heard of my salon. (I've been open since 2016. I am literally my own worst enemy when it comes to promoting myself locally.)
So, instead of hanging back and waiting for things to happen to me, which clearly hasn't delivered the results I've been searching for, I'm changing the way I do everything. And I'm sharing it with you. I figure we'll all just see what happens together, and maybe learn a few things along the way.
Mostly, I'm on a mission to see myself succeed at all the dreams I've kept hidden from everyone, including myself. I hope you'll join me on this journey. And I'd love to hear if you've recognized a bit of yourself in my story today!
